This blog started out as a photographic record of visits to prehistoric sites in Scotland, Ireland and Wales, with the main interest being on megalithic tombs.
Some of the sites are close to home in the west of Scotland but most of the locations are places I am familiar with from the coastline around the Irish Sea area and up the western seaboard of Scotland to the Hebrides and beyond.
From dolmens and ancient churches in Anglesey and west Wales, to the Neolithic tombs of the Boyne Valley and N.E. Ireland and back across the Irish Sea to chambered cairns and rock art in the west of Scotland. There are also Iron Age forts, settlements and souterrains and anything else of interest I came across along the way.
Whatever the monument or location, all have provided rewarding walks or taken us to interesting and remote corners of Britain and Ireland. Places we might never have discovered if we hadn’t been in search of some ancient site I had read about or spotted on the OS map.
